On the homework issue. It's amazing how pizza can motivate a student. One of my girls teachers had chocolate kisses. It was unreal how hard the kids would work for a chocolate kiss.

My daughter's 2nd grade teacher used the marble jar, and it was amazing how well it motivated the kids in the right direction! So simple, yet so effective. We've borrowed the idea at how, except we use carnival style tickets (that we picked up from Smart & Final). Works like a charm! As far as homework, I'm afraid I have to side with your son. To this day, I hate the idea of kids going to school all day and then having to pour over their books at night. I think it sucks! Homework is a BAD idea. Studying for a test is one thing
